What documents do clients need for a T1 in Ontario?

A typical T1 intake package often includes employment slips (T4, RL-1), investment income (T5, T3), deduction support documents (RRSP, medical, tuition), rental property records, self-employment receipts, and prior-year NOA. FAQ

Common intake items include T4/T4A/T5/T3, RL-1 if applicable, RRSP receipts, medical expenses, rental statements, self-employed receipts, and prior-year NOA. Exact requirements vary by client situation — not tax advice.

RL-1 may apply when the client had Quebec employment income. Ontario-based firms often collect RL-1 issuer copies alongside T4s when Quebec-source employment appears on the return.

Track the missing T4 on your intake checklist and follow up with the employer or client. Your firm decides whether to wait for Auto-fill or request issuer copies when slips are late or amended.
