Client portal vs email for accountants

Email: familiar but unstructured

No per-client dashboard, no approve/reject per item, no export index aligned to your checklist.

Shared drives: storage without workflow

Folders do not tell you which of 12 checklist items are still missing.

Structured portal with Hivi-X

Checklist + portal + review + export — intake layer alongside TaxCycle and QuickBooks.

Frequently asked questions

When is email still used?
Many clients email slips anyway. Your team can add those files to the Hivi-X checklist on their behalf while the portal remains the structured source of truth.
Is a portal harder for seniors?
Clients can use a secure guest link (no account needed; email OTP verification) or log in to my-id.ca. Mobile photo upload works for T-slips. Many firms pair portal requests with phone support.
Does a portal replace TaxDome's portal?
Only if you choose Hivi-X for intake-only. Firms on full PM may keep TaxDome and add Hivi-X only if intake remains painful — evaluate your stack.

Stop chasing T-slips through email every tax season

Hivi-X helps Ontario accountants and bookkeepers collect T4s, RL-1s, receipts, and bank statements with user-built checklists, secure guest link (no account needed) or my-id.ca portal uploads, missing-item tracking, and exportable PDF packages for TaxCycle or DT Max.
