Multi-driver newcomer auto insurance intake for Ontario brokers

Multi-driver newcomer auto insurance intake for Ontario brokers

Scarborough family: dad G2, mom foreign licence, son "doesn't drive" except he does. One undeclared licensed household driver is how claims and renewals get ugly — not a cute footnote.

Direct answer

One checklist line per household driver (or documented exclusion path) plus ownership, garaging, and prior foreign insurance. Newcomer history is a named item, not a producer memory. QC all before bind. Export to your BMS.

Why household drivers matter

Ontario auto applications typically ask who drives the vehicle and who lives in the household with a licence. Markets rate and accept risk on that list. If a household member should not drive the insured vehicle, brokers often use a formal excluded-driver path (commonly OPCF 28A) — both parties sign, and coverage rules change sharply. Hivi-X can hold the signed form as a checklist line; it does not decide who to exclude.

Portal upload + reject for bad licence scans. Co-agent splits driver chase across CSRs. Not shipped: automated MTO pulls, experience-credit calculation, or WhatsApp sync.

Ops blunt take

Family files fail on who is on the policy, not on who replied to the group chat. Named lines beat "we'll add the son later."

Frequently asked questions

Must all household drivers be disclosed upfront?
Applications and underwriting usually expect licensed household members listed or formally excluded. Confirm with the carrier — G1 learners and OPCF 28A exclusions are process-specific. Treat undeclared drivers as a file gap, not a footnote.
Foreign licence without abstract yet?
Document status on the line — voice-note why pending and chase per MGA rules. Do not invent experience credits.
Can spouse upload from overseas before landing?
Guest link can collect pre-arrival scans where applicable; CSR still QCs readability.
G2 child plus newcomer parents?
Combine G2 template lines with newcomer history lines — one named line per driver.
Does Hivi-X translate foreign docs?
No — CSR QC for readability and completeness. Translation stays with your process and market requirements.
