Bank statement stamp format for proof of funds QC

Bank statement stamp format for proof of funds QC

The branch stamp does not rescue a mobile banking screenshot. IRCC asks for an official bank letter.

Direct answer

For Express Entry proof of funds, Ontario RCICs should default to official bank letters on letterhead (full QC guide; screenshots are not statements). If a client uploads stamped statements, treat as exception and usually reject toward the letter unless current IRCC instructions for that case clearly accept another form.

Stamp QC micro-checklist (exception path only)

  • Institution name visible (not just “Bank stamp”)
  • Branch address or phone on stamp or header
  • Stamp date within your firm’s freshness window
  • Account holder = applicant (or joint with access proof)
  • Average balance present (letter) — do not invent averages from cropped pages
  • No crop on account numbers

Reject note template: "Proof of funds — rejected: IRCC asks for an official letter on letterhead including 6-month average balance. Take the checklist field list to your branch."

Frequently asked questions

Are stamped statements acceptable for Express Entry?
IRCC’s Express Entry proof-of-funds page tells applicants to get official letters from banks/financial institutions on letterhead. Default to the letter. Treat stamped statements as high-risk exceptions — confirm live IRCC guidance for that case.
What must the official letter include?
Per IRCC’s published list: institution contact info; your name; outstanding debts; and per account — numbers, date opened, current balance, and average balance for the past 6 months. Re-check the live page if wording changes.
What should a bank stamp show if a statement is still used?
Institution identity and contacts must still be clear; stamp must not obscure account holder, numbers, or balances. A stamp alone does not create a letter.
Joint accounts?
Funds must be legally accessible. Follow current IRCC rules and document advice — this page is not legal advice.
Does Hivi-X validate settlement-fund amounts?
No. Your team compares to the current IRCC table; Hivi-X tracks the approved letter line.
