Language test documentation for Express Entry clients

More than a PDF attachment

RCICs need:

  • Official test result document (PDF or scan per your practice policy)
  • Test report form (TRF) number for portal entry
  • Confirmation the test is within validity at submission date

A dedicated Hivi-X checklist line captures each element. Reject uploads missing TRF numbers or showing expired test dates.

Spouse and dependant tests

Family composition changes the list. Duplicate checklist templates per applicant or use co-agent access so a junior consultant tracks dependant language lines on the same client file.

Pre-ITA collection

Language tests are ideal pre-ITA items — results are often ready before invitation. Approved checklist items carry forward when ITA arrives.

Frequently asked questions

How long are language test results valid for Express Entry?
IRCC accepts results within their published validity period. Verify current IRCC guidance before submission.
Which tests does IRCC accept?
Typically IELTS, CELPIP (English), and TEF (French) for designated programs. Confirm program-specific requirements.
Should spouse language tests be separate checklist items?
Yes — separate lines per applicant when the program requires spouse language points or accompanying dependant documentation.
