Canadian-hosted document collection for RCICs

Canadian-hosted document collection for RCICs

PIPEDA and immigration practices

Commercial immigration consulting activities fall under PIPEDA. Client files are among the most sensitive personal data a practice holds.

US-hosted generic tools

Default Google Drive, Dropbox, and some CRM document modules store data outside Canada. That creates review friction for Ontario RCICs marketing confidentiality to GTA immigrant communities.

Complement, not complete compliance

Answers are general operational information only — not legal, tax, regulatory, clinical, privacy, immigration, or professional advice. Requirements vary by matter, client, and regulator.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Hivi-X data stored?
On servers hosted in Canada. Verify current infrastructure documentation for your compliance review.
Is Google Drive Canadian-hosted?
Google Drive defaults to US infrastructure. Many RCICs use Hivi-X for intake QC and Canadian hosting, then archive exports per firm policy.
Does Canadian hosting satisfy CICC requirements alone?
No. You still need access controls, retention policy, and complete communication logging. Hosting is one layer of a defensible file program.
